Assistant Jail Administrator

Full Time Position

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting the Jail Administrator with managing the jail and its employees.  Train, direct and evaluate employees.  Plans and coordinates jail operations with all shifts.  Maintains a high level of security to protect inmates, jail personnel and the public.  Ensures health care and food services are adequately performed for the inmates.  Assists with and oversees maintenance of all jail records.  Oversees inmate disciplinary procedures.  Admission and release of State/County/City prisoners.  Transportation of inmates to other jails and medical treatment facilities.  Responsible for providing information to County officers and other agencies.

Requirements

  • Experience in this line of work is required
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required

Salary and Benefits

Starting Salary: $14.00 / hr

Other Benefits: 

  • Step raise of approximately 4% per year for first 5 years in addition to COLA raise when given
  • BC/BS insurance
  • Alabama State Retirement available on date of hire
  • Probation period is six months
  • Fourteen paid holidays per year along with vacation and sick leave that accumulate from date of hire
